861 Evaluation of Understanding and Utilisation of Low Potassium Diets in Urology Wards. A Quality Improvement Project

Abstract Introduction Dietary restrictions are implemented upon renal inpatients considering their predisposition to electrolyte abnormalities from failure. A similar affiliation in urology wards is assumed due patient profiles. Minimal awareness exists for low potassium alternatives on the catering menu. We aimed review understanding and utilisation of diets amongst healthcare professionals our urological wards. Method Thirty staff members comprising doctors, nurses assistants were surveyed. Results Fifty seven percent unaware diet availability ward. None patients offered or remained a diet. During cross-sectional across 3 days, 25(45%) 7 identified have failure hyperkalaemia respectively. Three warranted replacement therapy. Conclusions Our study highlights lack underutilisation An educational programme being conducted with guidance dieticians caterers. Ward guidelines will be established high risk imbalances. Low emphasised subsequent evaluation performed improvement enactments.
